Windshield Ding
I was behind a semi on the highway and was thinking to myself, "I should get around this thing", but I didn't and it flipped up a big rock that cracked my windshield. Grr.. Only 4 months old..
Oh well. If the crack grows and I have to get it replaced, maybe that will be a good excuse to get tinted windows at the same time

Many insurance companies will cover fixing it for free if you report it in the next 30 days, assuming it’s small enough (which it looks like it is, though it’s hard to tell from the picture).

Hmm that’s a good idea, I should check on that. Though I think they only cover “fixing” the ding by filling it in, instead of replacing the whole windshield..

Yeah, they will fill it in for free, and most insurance companies will even pay to have them come out to your house to do it.
The windshield is covered under comprehensive insurance, but you likely have a $500 deductible. I’d guess your screen costs about $250. Mine costs $460.
BTW, you shouldn’t ever tint your windshield! It’s illegal in most states.

You should listen to the bloke who just posted the last message. He knows exactly what he is talking about.

ha, I thought that was you, with the $460 wind “screen”

Hey! They don’t do fancy those wind “shields” for my horse and cart!

Same thing happened to me… the crack now stretches halfway across my windshield. Luckily it is on the passenger side so it doesn’t bother me.
The real problem is the ridiculous number of trucks hauling dirt and pebbles around the great Puget Sound area. I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else.
