Emergency Resource Guide

I just got this Emergency Resource Guide in the mail from the "Washington Military Department Emergency Management Division":

Emergency Resource Guide

It contains lots of useful info, such as what to do when you cough, in case you dropped out of school before kindergarten:

What to do if you cough

It has 41 pages of advice about how to deal with everyday dangers such as:

  • Terrorism (advice: "Be aware of your surroundings")
  • Accidental Poisoning
  • Pandemic Flu
  • Radiation Exposure
  • Bomb Threats (questions to ask: "Where is the bomb?" "Where are you?")
  • Chemical Agents
  • Anthrax
  • Botulism
  • Pneumonic Plague
  • Smallpox
  • Tularemia
  • Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers
  • Methamphetamine Labs (wtf?)
  • Earthquakes
  • Tsunamis
  • Volcanoes
  • Government fear-mongering

Oh wait, that last one wasn't on the list 😛

  1. How you did get said resource guide? Did you order it or did it just randomly show up?

Meth labs are totally dangerous though. Way more dangerous than many of those other things listed above.

  2. It just randomly showed up in the mail. That’s interesting about the meth labs – I didn’t know they exploded so much.

  3. Boo, my comment got moderated away! 🙁

I originally said something like: “Why do you always get these things before me? I wonder how many dollars that section on sneezing cost to write.”

  4. I don’t recall having moderated any other comments on this post, and my Akismet Spam folder is empty, so I’m not sure what happened to your comment? I think my WordPress install is buggy..

  5. My comment showed up (for me) with the text “awaiting moderation” above it, then it just disappeared, never to return.

BTW, I started getting spam on my blog. 🙁

  6. Hmm that is weird. I don’t know what happened. I’m getting spam too so that’s why I enabled moderation. Akismet does a pretty good job catching it though.
