Today I finally got a "Thank you for enrolling at the University of Washington" letter, which was a bit of a surprise since I was expecting a "Thank you for applying" letter first, at which point I would decide whether or not to enroll. I guess they made that decision for me :). I'm sure the next thing I'll be getting will be a big bill.

Now I have to send in "proof of measles immunity". I'm sure I got the vaccine when I was 5 years old, so I have no record of it, and of course neither does my current health care provider (no doubt due to general incompetence, or laws prohibiting automatic transferring of my medical records without my consent or something like that). This will be fun to track down. I'll be mad if I have to get another shot, but sadly that might be the easiest thing to do..

  1. yeah good luck tracking stuff down. It’ll prob be wayy easier to contact your previous doctor in CO. My co-worker needed to get a bunch of shots because she couldnt prove she got them. I actually need to track that crap down as well…

  2. Ooo! What I did when I applied to CU was tell them that my religion didn’t allow me to have vaccinations. A total lie, but a great example of how people put religious beliefs over many things, including health, it would seem.

    Congrats btw 🙂

  3. Hmm there is a bit in here about “in the event of a measles outbreak, non-immunized students will not be allowed to attend class”, which sort of indicates that it might be optional if I have an excuse like yours. Hmm.. I doubt I’ll try it, but it’s an interesting idea.

  4. there is precedent of a university not allowing a student in for not having vaccinations and when it was taken to court the univ won.

  5. well, my parents dug up the vaccination record, so it looks like I won’t have to try that 🙂
