Hmm a Panama hat does look good, but I'm not sure I have a lot in the way of clothes that would go with it. I'll keep it in mind. It is nice that it's waterproof and wide-brimmed to keep off the rain.

Just remember that it shouldn't "just" be functional...you want to wear a hat because hats are good.

For example -

Hmm I didn't realize it was such an elaborate process :). I'll keep that in mind while looking for one. One thing is that it will definitely need to be waterproof, given all the rain. Though I don't have a pressing need for it since I'm not forced to be out in the rain very often, driving to and from work as I do.

Finding the right hat with a sufficient level of groove is a personal thing. One of those experiences where you'll know it when you see it. You should probably look on your own because unfortunately, hat buying can be influenced by others who may have no sense of style...no sense of soul.
During your hat buying excursion, they're the sort that might tease you about your potential hat of choice and try to talk you into something "safe" (aka "boring").
If you are truly hatless, this is something you should remedy right away...

Well I didn't quite make it to a hat store, but even if I did I'm not sure which one to get. What kind of hat is suitably groovy?

Everyone needs a groovy hat or ten. At least now you know what you must do after work this evening: buy a cool hat. (And it can't be a ballcap, either.)

Either way, it looks like a week of bad hair days.

Or, on a positive note, a week of very groovy hat wearing...
