1984
Apparently my copy of 1984 restarts from the very beginning on page 43, meaning that it's missing about 40 pages at the end of the book:
If it was any other book I would have just chalked it up to incompetence, but since it was this particular book, I had to wonder if it was done on purpose, and if so, what did those 40 pages contain that caused them to get tossed down the memory hole? Perhaps a stinging revelation that the paperback-publishing industry is the root of all evil? If I asked about it, would the answer be that "1984 is missing 40 pages. 1984 has always been missing 40 pages"?
I found and read the rest of the book on the internet, and alas, it doesn't actually appear to be a vast conspiracy 🙁

As someone who adores all things paper and especially books…wow! While one one level it stinks that your copy is missing important pages, it is kind of quirky and neat to have a misprinted copy!
Perhaps if you ask Santa, he’ll deliver a complete copy to you for Christmas. (Say…where is your Amazon Wishlist link, anyway?!)
p.s. Are you reading 1984 for fun?

Nah I probably don’t need another copy from Santa since I was able to read the rest online. I was indeed reading it for fun since I hadn’t read it before, and since it’s strangely relevant these days..
Hmm I’m pretty sure my Amazon wishlist can be found by putting my name into their wishlist-search thingie. At the moment it’s empty, though. I should put some stuff on it.. (why are you curious? :))

You just never know when for no apparent reason, someone might be inspired to do something nice!
Also, don’t you find the wishlists to be rather telling?

Hmm yeah I think that’s part of the concern – wishlists might be too telling 🙂

Wow! I just checked and there are a lot of Serenas out there! But not this one…

So, you don’t have an Amazon wishlist? (confused). I must admit I am a bit curious to learn a little more about you. All I know about you is your first name 🙂

Nope…I don’t! Really? You think that all you know about me is my first name? You know way more than that! You know what I do for a living, that I have been to Las Vegas numerous times and also to New York, that I am not computer savvy…I am sure there are more fascinating details I’ve mentioned. 🙂
